Hello Amir,

a neat device for HD-playback from an external (USB) harddisk (I don't  
know about USB thumbdrives) is the Western Digital HD Media Player, as  
seen on http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=572 .
I'm positive that it allows playback of 720p and 1080p/i H264 videos in  
Matroska, and I think it can also play back MPEG-4 ASP (MPEG-4 part 2)  
encoded videos like ones using DivX or XviD, though you should gather  
reassuring info about that yourself. The device costs about 100$, and  
you'll need an external USB-HD, ostensibly.
