windows vista32 blaming splitter.ax for crashing on boot

Hello, My explorer.exe has been crashing on computer boot, and the error message says splitter.ax is the problem. It gives me two options, update splitter, which I did, but that did not fix the problem, or unregister splitter. any ideas how to fix this?
