This implies the conditions simple, generic, and unlimited are mutually exclusive, and that's not necessarily so.

A generic and unlimited system implies a lack of restrictions. Thus if you're approaching the problem from a restrictive point of view (only specify what you can't do) instead of a constructive point of view (specify evert thing you can do) it can be very simple in this case.

This is why the vtable thing is starting to make me uncomfortable. Yes it's a more efficient way than the message passing, but it's starting to get into "ok now we have to specificly enumerate everything in the known universe to know if it works or not" and that's going to raise the complexity alot versus "just try anything you want, we'll let you know if there's a problem".
