yeah, I know that glib has similar concepts. but I do _not_ want to
use glib, since it is too overbloated and many things are not clean
enough. (gmodule is also not suitable for my needs). and its based
on automake - automake is completely bullshit.

I'd agree reimplementing gobject interface (but under diffent name),
but then in a very small library, which does not do much more than that
and is not purely part of media-api.

Several days ago, I've already posted some plans for an underlying
library which handles very primitive data structures, memory handling
and modules+services.

Some years ago, I stood at the same point - these days I've developed
the dds and a library set called deimos came out of this project.
The deimos libs also provide a quite usable userland VFS which can
work w/ URIs as filenames and supported several protocols like
http and direct tcp socket access.

I've tried to work together with the glib people and wanted to split
off glib into smaller parts while doing some conceptional cleanups,
but no chance - they simply didnt want and I alone had not enough
manpower for maintaining a complete forkoff.

I also tried to introduce a garbage collector, but the only person who
seemed to understand a little bit, wanted it to have just as a
debugging helper tool. They simply were not able to understand those
things yet. Perhaps - some years later - we have better chances in
this project ...
