That's an > improvement over existing IFF formats (AVI, QT)... Maybe matroska is an good invention and someday will make many people happy. But this discussion does not belong here. From view of media-api it is just another container. We're here to develop an API which abstracts from this stuff, so a container is simply something which contains multiple streams additionally w/ meta information like timestamps. And here we have to talk: how do we support containers/muxers w/ timestamps ? If we see the contained streams as binary files, it seems quite difficult, so perhaps better we should view them as sequence of chunks. Each chunk has a binary block and a couple of meta information supplied by the demux (i.e. timestamp, seeking information, ...) cu -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- Enrico Weigelt == metux IT services phone: +49 36207 519931 www: http://www.metux.de/ fax: +49 36207 519932 email: [email protected] cellphone: +49 174 7066481 --------------------------------------------------------------------- DSL-Zugang ab 0 Euro. -- statische IP -- DSL-Flatfrate -- Diese Mail wurde mit UUCP versandt. http://www.metux.de/uucp/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
