How to progress now ?

to get back on topic :

After looking at Gstreamer more extensively it seems that most of the 
devs feel that their plugin API is in fact poweful, but maybe really too 
complicated for codec developers to learn.

For this reason, it seems to be a better idea to create an easier API 
like the one we were discussing here, and to make a general kind of 
wrapper for gstreamer then ( as well as for many other apps ) to be able 
to use different codecs. To make D Felker really unhappy, probably 
enough to make him *LEAVE US ALONE FOREVER*, the best method could 
probably be to just get this thing here moving ?

Will anybody have the time to start some basic docs of what was 
discussed here, plus some example code ? Enrico ?
