Hello Folks, There hasn't been much discussion about SMIL and Xiph media. I'd like to say that the W3C Synchronized Multimedia (SYMM) Working Group has started SMIL 3.0 and so far it has included a text media 'SMILtext'. Which is a subset of W3C's 'Timed Text'. It will probably take a while before all the dust is settled and there are working implementations. The thing to consider is for the first time it will be possible to create multimedia content with all the parts being non-proprietary Vorbis/Flac audio, Theora/Dirac video, jpeg/gif images, SMILtext and SMIL I equate that first presentation with the first webpage, it will be unencumbered multimedia to do what you want with it, there could be new amazons and googles, you never know. A little background, here is an overview of the SMIL 3.0 Working Draft: http://www.multimedia4everyone.com/smil30/index.htm An example of a Vorbis + SMIL presentation, it needs the xiph plugin for RealPlayer: http://www.multimedia4everyone.com/mia_chia/mia_chia.zip https://helixcommunity.org/projects/xiph/ Cheers, and Thanks to those who contributed, Jose Ramirez "Free your Media, Xiph it." I'd like to see that on a t-shirt :)
