The feature you want is not at all stupid, but you're also correct that it belongs in a higher-level mechanism. Ogg, by design, is a linear-delivery encoding. From the very beginning, the intent has been to build nonlinear systems *from* Ogg, not *into* Ogg :-) Do one thing, and do it well. Then it will be useful for building larger things.
