(The board is nine squares wide) Gameplay style is human against computer player. -------------------------------------- Comments Overall: Interesting, but lacking explanation of the rules, even a web link would be a big help to non-Chinese person. -------------------------------------- Comments on Installation/Uninstallation: The ZIP distribution includes a binary and source. There is no install/uninstall feature at all. -------------------------------------- Notable features(or lack of)/bugs: Lacking documentation and explanation. No noticable bugs. On a 1024x768 desktop, a bit squinty to look at, no resize feature. -------------------------------------- Learning Curve: Very steep for uninitiated. -------------------------------------- Prerequisites: None -------------------------------------- Screenshot URLs: http://thecct.51.net/image/cchess_preview_s.jpg -------------------------------------- <Section 3: Numerical review> -------------------------------------- Documentation: 2 -------------------------------------- Ease-of-use: 2 -------------------------------------- Appearance: 8 -------------------------------------- Stability: 9 -------------------------------------- Kill-Factor: 4 -------------------------------------- --------------080309090005060503090808 Content-Type: text/plain; name="minesperf.txt" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline; filename="minesperf.txt" Review form (Beta edition) <Section 1: Project information> Reviewed by Nigel Stewart ([email protected]) -------------------------------------- Program name: Mines-Perfect -------------------------------------- Version: 1.2a -------------------------------------- Last Release Date: 16th Jan 2001 -------------------------------------- Website: http://www.czeppi.de/english/index.html -------------------------------------- Binary URL: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mines-perfect/mines121.zip?download -------------------------------------- Binary Size: 406699 -------------------------------------- Source URL: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mines-perfect/mines121_src.zip?download -------------------------------------- Source Size: 76282 -------------------------------------- Licence: GPL -------------------------------------- Languages: en, de -------------------------------------- Platforms supported: Windows -------------------------------------- Competitors: Microsoft MineSweeper -------------------------------------- User Market: Home -------------------------------------- Installer: NO -------------------------------------- Uninstaller: NO -------------------------------------- <Section 2: Descriptive review> -------------------------------------- Description: An enhanced version of the Microsoft Minesweeper game with several variations in play. Square, triangle or hexagon grid. Hint and solve features. Customisation of difficulty level. -------------------------------------- Comments Overall: Main problem is that help file and some application dialogs are in German. It looks like a while since the website and program were updated, a little bit of maintenance and translation work is needed. -------------------------------------- Comments on Installation/Uninstallation: No Installer. -------------------------------------- Notable features(or lack of)/bugs: Very esy to use. Mix of English and German can be jarring. Needs an installer. -------------------------------------- Learning Curve: Low -------------------------------------- Prerequisites: None -------------------------------------- Screenshot URLs: http://www.czeppi.de/squares.gif -------------------------------------- <Section 3: Numerical review> -------------------------------------- Documentation: 5 (German Only) -------------------------------------- Ease-of-use: 8 -------------------------------------- Appearance: 8 -------------------------------------- Stability: 8 -------------------------------------- Kill-Factor: 3 -------------------------------------- --------------080309090005060503090808-- _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas - http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm?source=osdntextlink
