I concur. Let's keep in mind that this not a private chatroom but a 
public mailing list with an archive that is indexed by search machines.

Fortunately, that recent flamewar is not representative of our typical 
quality of discussion, but think of the effect such conversations have 
on new users. Imagine you just joined the list and read a thread like 
this. This can be very off-putting.

@IOhannes: I would suggest to remove those ugly messages from the 
mailing archive, if possible. If this was a forum, they would have 
likely been flagged and removed/hidden.
