or simply try to start Pd from the cmdline, so you can hopefully see 
some errors while it crashes.

e.g.
1. open the Terminal.app
2. cd to the directory where you have your Pd-0.56
   e.g.
   ```
   cd ~/Desktop/
   ```
3. try to run Pd:
   ```
   ./Pd-0.56-0.app/Contents/MacOS/Pd
   ```

for me this looks like this:

```
user@macstudio Desktop % ./Pd-0.56-0.app/Contents/MacOS/Pd
Pd-0.56.0 ("") compiled 00:36:10 Jul 30 2025
float precision = 32 bits
```
