Recomendation: Gem or Processing?

Hi list,

for a project I'm considering if I should use Gem or processing. The 
purpose is to map the live playback of a piece of music into a poster 
with the score of around 2200x1100cm, by marking which notes and layers 
are active.

The patch is controlled live by Pd, possibly at some point the score 
itself might also be projected as well (9090 x 4545 px at 150dpi).

The development is being done in windows, but it's possible that it will 
have to run on mac or linux. Considering these remarks, is there any 
reason not to use the newest Pd version, or avoid Gem?

The projection itself will be very simple, using some colors for the 
playback line and other layers, color transitions, etc. Not taxing for 
the cpu at all.
