pure ac3 pass-through

hello,

is it possible to enable a pure ac3 pass-through for xmms? I'm currently
using version 1.2.7 and alsa drivers & co. (0.9.4). I've got a
soundblaster live! and I'm using the digital output and a external
decoder. sound is working fine with xine and mplayer.
I've installed the alsa output plugin (0.9) - with no result...

any idea?
