red hat 8 and 9 shipped xmms without the mp3 input plugin, due to patent
concerns. you can download it here:

this is a known issue, and if you google for "xmms red hat", practically all of
the results are about this. it is a kind of weird problem though, so i won't
tell you to RTFM. :P
