Buffering MP3-data in RAM

Hi,

I'm Yves Daneels, and I'm creating an embedded car computer.  I'm using a board
with an XScale processor, for those who might want to know.  I've chosen XMMS
becouse it's easily skinnable (I'm hoping to find a skin with big buttons for
touchscreen use allready made) and it just is the best player for Linux out there.

My question is pretty simple.  I need a way to buffer MP3's in RAM, so driving
on a bumpy road doesn't interfere with the music.  Also, the less the hard disk
has to spin, the less noisy the unit will be and the less power it consumes.

I found some posts on this mailing list in September 2001 with the title "RFC:
Preload input files".  There were some solutions suggested there, and I'd like
to know if it got implemented at some time.

If it isn't implemented, what do you people think is the best way to preload
MP3's in RAM?  You know the code base much better than I do...
