XMMS does already save it's config when you hit 'Apply' or 'Ok' in the 
preferences window.

With regard to this option in general, I don't like it much.  You change 
the behaviour of the command line, and I'm not convinced by the reasoning 
behind it.

With this option enabled it is impossible to do achieve the same effect as 
'xmms filename.mp3' does today.  And as others have commented, you can 
enqueue songs by using 'xmms -e'.
