Nice! I guess I'm not the only one who's entertained the idea of 
maintaining an out of tree patchset or doing a fork.

It's a shame this project has rotted so bad. I've had a few ideas for 
enhancements that I haven't put to paper yet because of the lack of 
maintainer response on the this list.
