Compile error on AMD Athlon 64

Hello,
I am running Fedora Core 4 x86_64 on an AMD Athlon 64 platform. FC 4 includes 
xmms-1.2.10-16, but for some reason, the equalizer has no effect on the sound 
output, regardless the output plugins that I use (I've tried alsa, oss, esd). 
My sound card is (as detected by FC 4) is VIA VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio 
Controller, and is using snd-via82xx module. I am using alsa-1.0.9 (shipped 
with FC 4).

So I thought I compile my own version of xmms to see if I can get the 
equalizer of xmms to actually work. During compilation I got error. Below is 
the last lines from the "make" command. Any help in resolving this is greatly 
appreciated. 

If you have any suggestion as to why the equalizer does not work, or how to 
fix it, I'd like to know that too.
