I thought about it initially, but I suspect it would not offer any help. =
It
only gets involved when a song ends or when the playlist ends. Who knows
what happens in between such 'key events'....

What is needed is an extension of such a plug-in -- one that reacts upon
more key events.

For what it's worth, here's my change song command:
