Hmm, maybe that is the problem then. I think my installation is "Enterprise
Architect". AFAIK, the only difference between the distributions is which
tools are included but I do not remember updating the compiler so I am not
sure why I have a seemingly later build.

It is an MSDN update but is the only thing I applied after my original
installation so maybe it had some other updates as well.

I am currently downloading the VC toolkit so will try to get things
compiling under that.
