I did with OO2.0, same database mysql and the mysql driver.
I added 2 fields in decimal format, 2 in double format.
(BTW what is the difference between numeric/decimal/double?)

When dragging and dropping them to the scalc document, the decimal
fields get a dollar sign (that can be surpressed by changing the
format of the relevant column as I said.) The doble fields are fine.
