"sum" in MySQL querry

I tried to run some of my older querries in my database but I got problem with 
"sum" function which worked previously.

With sql querry 
"select rok,  sum(etnikum=3) from hlasenie group by rok" 
I got error: 
Unknown type 246 in column 1 of 2 in binary-encoded result set.
