Problem with subforms in 2.0.4 in Fedora Core 6

When I try to make a subform, no matter what I do, I end up getting an error
"unepected token: : in statement ... "

When I click on more in the error dialog box I get:
SQL Status: 37000
Error code: -11

Unexpected token: : in statement [SELECT * FROM "watches" WHERE ( "brand" =
:link_from_brand )]


Can someone please help me through this problem?

I've read numerous tutorials about making a subform and none of them mention
this error.
