I use a .csv (see above).
So, when opening the .odb, the statusbar shows 'text'.

As written: didn't encouter probs with spreadsheets.

I was not sure at one moment, so tried again. (And checked again now.)
Thus the answer is no.

Can connections still live if the quickstarter is closed, but the 
application is still hanging around in the OS'memory?
