According to http://www.cao-faktura.de/content/view/24/42/ the free
version is under GPL, like MySQL is - so there shouldn't be a problem
using an actual MySQL verison. Likely they have a close sourced version
and prefer not pay for OEM licenses.

MySQL 3.23 is too old and not supported anymore - it lacks of several
features like character set support, prepared statements etc. which are
essential for OpenOffice Base.
