OOo 1.1.4 build breaks in Python

All:

I've been going round and round trying to build OOo 1.1.4 and found that building python breaks with the readline.c (which compiles to the readline executable) with the following error:

rl_event_hook undeclared.

I've been looking at this for the last few days and cannot figure out why this is so.  I've looked at the next release in the 2.2 series and this problem remains. 

Is this a Python issue or is something incorrect in OOo?
