I don't know how there could be "no problem on 2.4" seeing as I don't
think there was a mips port back around 2.4, did OOo actually work on
mips with that version ?

Perhaps you mean there was no build error in testtools on 2.4 ? That
would likely be because the buildtime test of the uno bridge didn't
exist (or wasn't enabled) back then.
