extending filter

I was just wondering if someone could tell me in what parts of the =
source the
code for filters are contained? Relevant code would be=20
File - > Import/Export, The dialogue for designing a filter, calling a
transform itself (which I suppose is a specific function called by all =
these
GUI components), and the insert -> file menu item.
