I wouldn't say OOo is really competing with Microsoft. They're offering 
an alternate solution that is free.

Your example appears to be wrong. I use Control-C to copy a cell and 
Control-V to paste it somewhere else in both Excel and Calc. Control-P 
in Calc brings up the print dialog box just as it does in Excel.

The formatting toolbar in OOo 3.3.0 works well for me.

Neither program is intuitive, IMHO. I've been using both for many years. 
The Office 2007 ribbon took some getting used to, but the keyboard 
shortcuts from earlier versions still worked.
