Dear sir/miss, I was not sure of which mail address to contact, but I hope this one is fine. I would appreciate if you could redirect this mail to someone with knowledge about the topic if I am way off the correct section of the OpenOffice.org community. I am at the very starting face on my master's thesis in economics at the University of Oslo, Norway. The topic I am interested in is the role of opensource/free software as well as piracy on the market for commercial software (such as Microsoft Office in the case of office software), and I am trying to gather some information. I was hoping I could get answers (estimates) on some very basic questions about the popularity of OpenOffice (alternatively LibreOffice ): - How many users are there of OpenOffice and/or LibreOffice? - How many of those users do also use Microsoft Office? - How large large is the fraction of OpenOffice/LibreOffice users compared to the total market of office software users? I understand that these statistics may be difficult to obtain due to the nature of free software, and that OpenOffice.org may have little information about LibreOffice. If you only have estimates/numbers on OpenOffice that is perfectly understandable.
