We can resolve this when we get to it, one step at a time...
My idea is that the main requirement for TM is actually text searching 
rather than a relational database, and have some ideas how to do this, 
but don't want to get into the same long technical discussion we had on 
the Pootle list :-)

Yes. Most recent Linux distributions should have python and php so that 
should be fine
