this is how I see the situation. Several builds are affected by this
separator issues. But others are not. Applying your patch to all the
builds (i.e to the core) will break not just compatibility with former
SO 5.2 documents, but also with existing ones: every user for whom 1,000
= 1000 will in turn have a new critical issue. This is not more
acceptable than your own situation. This is why we can work this out in
two ways:
1° since the affected builds are not localized by Sun , we can include
your patch on them, which would of course require the maintaining of two
build trees for Pavel :-( (nonetheless we can try to find more
ressources)
2° accept the workaround Stefan proposes as a *temporary* solution and
then find a solution that wouldn't affect anybody in its outcome in
regard of the locale default, the locale setting, etc.

What do you think about that?
