Hi,
We are just starting on Urdu localization, not just in OpenOffice,
but also in other FOSS desktops and applications. The Urdu work is
in a very preliminary phase, as an open-source font is not available
yet, and we are still at a setup stage in other areas. You might wish
to direct people to the new mailing list set up for this. The list
information, including subscription is at:
http://mail.randomink.org/mailman/listinfo/urdu-indic_randomink.org
Archives are at:
http://mail.randomink.org/pipermail/urdu-indic_randomink.org/
The archives seem to be restricted access at the moment: I will try to
get the list admin to change that. Some other useful links are:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/urdu_computing
http://www.crulp.org
Hopefully, we will be able to start soon on OpenOffice, as we do have
people interested in localizing it.

Regards,
Gora
