IMHO when they go to a mailing-list page, they are already at the wrong
place.
Those first-time visitors should be guided through the site one step
earlier. Through "contributing.ooo" or through the "new user" pages/the
native-lang projects, the support-pages or by the enhanced
product/project pages. - Depending on what they have in mind.

IMHO the mailing-list page should only list those lists that don't quite
fit in any of the above categories.

If the user cannot find a list when he has a support-question, the
support-pages need an update. When he cannot find a list in the
native-language, then those pages should be enhanced.

I see we somewhat share the same point of view. But the root in my case
is the frontpage. There it diverges in nl/support/contributing
(projects/development to be highlighted a bit more)
