I was reading <http://lwn.net/Articles/358701/> with some amount of
interest and, what you write does provide some support to the
argument. The traditional means-to-end of "visibility via
contributions" may not be holding true for a sizeable number of
economies in the Asian region. Additionally, there has to be ways of
discussing what can be termed as a contribution to OO.o while keeping
it relevant. For example, depending on the consumption of the
software, direction of contributions could vary a lot.
