Uhm, we are all nobodies, in a manner of speaking :-)

No one is saying there is. The issue, to be as clear as I can be (I hate =
sounding like Nixon=85.), is that leadership roles carrying =
representational authority, like the lead of the Native Language =
Confederation or Marketing Lead, differ. They are more visible, and =
their authority lies more in what one says, and where, than in the code =
produced that is then scrutinized by a team of peers.=20

As well, our governing board is composed of representatives supposedly =
representing various constituent elements making up OpenOffice.org. They =
speak for these constituencies; that's their function.

To misuse the authority granted them and advocate *leaving* =
OpenOffice.org to join a competing community, is thus quite serious. Not =
all have done this, I know only of Charles' public post to dev@nlc, but =
even the engagement of the leads on the Council raises serious doubts =
and concerns: whom are they representing? Whom speaking for? On whose =
behalf are they working. I'm sure that they are all able to act =
decently, but perception is also important, as that contributes to the =
trust that needs to be built here. Do keep in mind that the Document =
Foundation and LO were sprung overnight on OOo, a fait accompli, with no =
room for discussion, no space for airing of conflicts in the CC or =
elsewhere. It just was announced amid vague, that is unspecified, =
complaints about Oracle that merely seemed to fit into the readily =
available media narrative about Big Bad Company vs. community. (We heard =
this again and again over the years when Sun was the BBC.)

Kicked off? No one is being kicked off, least of all you. Actually, the =
opposite, in a way, but the key point here, don't you think, is to =
accept that TDF and LO are no longer OpenOffice.org? As we invite all to =
work on OOo, ODF (including Msft, of course) and related technologies, =
so we, the OOo community, welcome contributions from TDF and LO. But the =
first step is, I think, the acceptance that TDF and LO differ in =
identity from OOo.

:-)
I'm all for huge tasks. Just takes huge set of resources. Do you think =
splitting the community and declaring a fork was the way to do it? I =
don't.=20
