I have had Open Office on my computer since it was purchased bout a year ago. For the past 2 days I've been trying to download multiple csv. "lead" files

All i get when i attempt to open them is "Acrobat reader cannot read this
file - it is (either wrongly formatted-- & works for person who sent it to
me) or damaged ( with extra explan.) Person who sent it to me says it needs
.csv reader which I understand you are.
Please advise on how to get it connected to the downloads which he gave me
twice.
