'update36' isn't to do with the OOo version - it's the server that holds
the software. The message is simply saying your machine can't contact
the server. Try pinging it (in a cmd.exe window, 'ping
update36.services.openoffice.org').

The latest version, btw, is 3.3.0, or so the web site says, so why you
'know there's an update' to your existing 3.3, I'm not sure.

You can always download the latest and greatest from the openoffice.org
website; there's no smaller 'update kit' anyway afaik.
