I usually use Excel, and I'm not sure about Open Office, but sometimes 
when I'm in that situation in Excel, I insert maybe about 15 lines 
between, say, 43 and 44, then copy the info I used to have in 46 thru 
59, to those new lines.

Then, hopefully, the "sum all the way down to what's right above this 
line" will still work to do exactly that.  (And, if it does, then you 
can remove the old lines that have that duplicated info.)
