I've seen that happen occasionally for a long time. So long as the end 
result is acceptable, I don't see it as a particular issue.

Perhaps the 'autocorrect' settings have been changed. Tools | 
autocorrect options, then the 'options' tab here (OOo3.2/ubuntu10.04).

Presumably the options are stored in your user-specific config area. 
This isn't affected by de- or re- installation of the program.
