yes, it's not the best word for the described context.

The main problem is that in english you used the same word for action:
to open a ticket => open  ; and for state: state of a ticket : open

In french, we need more :)

To open a ticket: Ouvrir un ticket
State of a ticket: Ouvert.

I have no technical solution, i just keep  french translating as best i can :)
