I'm not sure when the updated tutorial will be incorporated in the release.
I haven't been maintaining Spirit lately. I do know that the updated tutorial
is now in the devel branch, but in quickbook format. I'll have a look when
I get a chance. There are some administrative tasks that need to be
taken cared of.

Anyway, here's a snapshot of the updated tutorial:

Note the addition of error handling, as you noted was missing before.
The accompanying code should be in the Git repo devel branch.

It's still not as complete as the Qi (v2) version, and I would be grateful
if someone takes the task of documenting beyond the quick reference.
