Can it be that that is an issue with a corrupted font-cache? 'Cause on
my machine (Also Chrome - 84.0.4147.125, Linux – KDE neon 5.21) it looks
as expected. (https://imgur.com/a/7AZWeC1). The same is in Vivaldi
(3.6.2165.40).

Also on my mobile phone (Google Chrome on Android) it looks as expected.

On my Linux machine it is rendered in Font "Source Sans Pro" which is
loaded from Googles Font API.

For me it looks like a faulty rendering as the "i" is moved right over
the combined "ff" like that has a zero width.

So could it be a glitch at your end? Perhaps with a locally installed
font? If – for whatever reasons – the Source Sans Pro can't be loaded it
will be rendered in Helvetica, Arial or the default sans-serif font...
