chm in xchm

I have just gone back to my windows install for the first time in a
number of weeks to check out the extended chm in windows, and to see if
this could help me get it working in xchm on *nix.

xchm seems somehow not to pick up on the user notes, which I guess
probably incorporate some kind of special javascript or MS technology
which xchm can't handle; though xchm does just fine for most chm's I've
come across. I haven't twiddled extensively yet, and may be wrong
here. I'll write back if I find I'm mistaken on this.

I don't really need all the eyecandy or ability to change themes - but a
more 'basic' version of the extended chm would be nice which also has
the user-contributed notes. These are a very important resource. I'd
imagine that this wouldn't be too hard to do, and would be very much
appreciated by the *nix community that develops in PHP. Very, very much
appreciated. I think you'll probably also find that a lot of the more
serious php devs dev on *nix (even though figures show more end-users
using windows), and they also could benefit from your hard work.

If you have a previous build which doesn't use all the special features,
and might be usable in xchm, this would also be a great thing.

By the way, thanks for this extended chm. I really used it alot when I
worked on windows. I will miss it very much if it doesn't make it to *nix.

Thanks!

-James
