Are you logged in as user 1 or have you tried running it as user 1?

Clear your caches

Make sure the site in NOT in maintenance mode

Try going to: /admin/reports/dblog

Clear the log message

Try to run cron again

Check for new log messages

If you do not find and logs after that, down load the error_log file =
from your server

scroll down to the bottom and check there for any hints

In /sites/default/settings.php on line 240:=20

$update_free_access =3D FALSE;
change to=20
$update_free_access =3D TRUE; (Most likely have to change the =
file/folder permissions)

Then try running cron

!important: change all back once done.

What kind of access denied are you getting? Is it a Drupal generated =
one, or
the generic, server one?
