Well I for one would be affected since I unsubscribed from pear-general
well over 1-2 years ago and do not plan on subscribing again :)
Not that I answer many user questions (or any at all) but the noise
ratio on pear-general is just overwhelming, at least back when I was
subscribed and I really doubt it has changed.

Tho using pear-dev for dev discussion is fine by me and rather logical,
it's anyway rather confusing at times when we have user and dev
discussion at the same place (for LU I mean)

What we could do is to keep private MLs (user and dev separated) but
relay them to pear-(general|dev) and also have a some sort of script to
catch emails that mention LiveUser/LU and relay them to those private
lists.
Very ugly solution but it will both allow for exposure but at the same
time gives us the privacy some people need.
