intereting problem

I've been tweaking bits of the manual recently and on this page
http://smarty.php.net/manual/en/language.basic.syntax.php#language.syntax.comments

I wanted to include the following example

{* cvs tags for a template *}
{* $Id:  Exp $ *}

but after commiting I got
{* $Id: language-syntax-comments.xml,v 1.8 2006/03/15 00:41:59 
pete_morgan Exp $ *}

So is there a way to "escape" the $Id ..

or would
{* #036;Id:  Exp #036; *}

work ??
