That's not a fair analogy.  One falls short of what its supposed to
support, the other goes beyond what it officially supports.  MS claims
adherence to the CSS 1.0 standard, but in practice IE falls far short of
compliance of even this aging standard.  On the other hand Smarty does
*not* claim compatibility with the standard (PHP 5) but actually does
work for the vast majority of PHP 5 apps.
