[SMARTY] Progress / Loading Page

Can anyone lend some advise as how to implement a loading page using 
smarty?  I have been investigating PEAR::HTML_Progress but I don't need 
a progress meter, I just want a page that says:
"Please be patient while the system processes your search"

Once the search function is complete it would redirect to the results page.

A great example of this is orbitz.com when you search for a hotel or 
airline flight.
