I think the best choice is to follow Andi's recommondation, beecause
Zend Server CE is a very reliable and highly performant platform to
start building on. It comes along with a bundled Apache 2.2, MySQL
support and a lot more features like Code Acceleration, Caching and PHP
debug functionality!
Because you already have MySQL and Apache installed on your system you
can easily set Zend Server on top of these; the installer will
automatically find your web server and you'll have the choice to use
this one instead of the bundled Apache2.2.

There are a lot of tutorials out there for beginners (simply do a search
on google for "php get started"...), but I would recommend these:

http://www.php.net/getting-started
http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_intro.asp

Good luck and let us know how you get along,

Sascha
